The PADI Rescue Diver course is one of the most rewarding and empowering programs in scuba diving. It teaches you how to prevent problems, respond to emergencies, and assist fellow divers in need—all while sharpening your confidence and leadership underwater.
Despite its serious name, this course is challenging, exciting, and a lot of fun!
This advanced training program prepares you to recognize and respond to diving emergencies—both minor and major. You’ll learn:
How to manage stress in yourself and other divers
Emergency oxygen administration techniques
Self-rescue skills
Assisting panicked or unresponsive divers
Surface rescue scenarios
Underwater search and recovery basics
Equipment issue troubleshooting
Through realistic scenarios, hands-on practice, and instructor-led training, you’ll develop the mindset and skills of a proactive dive leader.
The course includes 6 open water dives with 10 rescue exercises such as:
Assisting a tired diver at the surface
Rescuing an unresponsive diver underwater
Providing rescue breaths while towing
Exiting an unresponsive diver
Managing missing diver situations
Emergency action planning
Each session combines theory, practice, and scenario-based training to fully prepare you for real-life dive incidents.
To enroll, you must:
Be certified as a PADI Adventure Diver or Junior Adventure Diver, with a completed Underwater Navigation dive
Have completed EFR Primary and Secondary Care (or qualifying CPR/First Aid training) within the past 24 months
Be at least 12 years old
Be in good physical condition and comfortable in the water
If you haven’t completed EFR yet, we can combine it with your Rescue Diver training. Just ask when you book!
