The PADI Rescue Diver Course is one of the most rewarding steps in scuba diving. You’ll learn how to prevent problems, respond to emergencies, and assist other divers—all while building confidence and leadership underwater.
Despite the serious name, the course is exciting, practical, and yes—fun!
The Rescue Diver Course prepares you to handle both minor and major dive emergencies. Through hands-on training and realistic scenarios, you’ll learn how to think like a leader and act with confidence.
Key skills include:
Self-rescue techniques
Stress management in yourself and others
Assisting tired, panicked, or unresponsive divers
Emergency oxygen administration
Underwater search and recovery basics
Rescue planning and equipment troubleshooting
You’ll complete 6 open water dives with 10 rescue exercises, including:
Assisting a tired diver at the surface
Helping a panicked diver
Rescuing an unresponsive diver underwater
Towing while giving rescue breaths
Exiting an unresponsive diver from the water
Managing a missing diver scenario
Each exercise combines theory, practice, and scenario-based training so you are prepared for real-life incidents.
To enroll, you must:
Be a PADI Adventure Diver (or equivalent) with completed Navigation Dive
Hold a valid EFR/First Aid & CPR certificate within the last 24 months (can be done with us if you don’t have it yet)
Be at least 12 years old
Be in good physical health and comfortable in the water

A: It’s challenging, but fun and rewarding. You’ll train through realistic scenarios, not stressful exams.
Q: Do I need to be super fit?
A: You should be reasonably comfortable in the water, but no special fitness level is required.
Q: Can I take EFR and Rescue together?
A: Yes! If you don’t already have your CPR/First Aid certificate, we can combine EFR with your Rescue Diver training.
Q: Is this course required for Divemaster?
A: Yes, the Rescue Diver certification is a mandatory step before starting the PADI Divemaster Course.
