A Divemaster (DM) is a certified professional who organizes and supervises recreational scuba diving activities. As a divemaster, you’ll guide certified divers on tours, assist instructors during training sessions, and ensure safety both on shore and underwater.
It’s a respected role recognized worldwide — and often the first step toward becoming a dive instructor.
Depending on local regulations and agency limits, a certified PADI Divemaster can:
✔️ Organize and guide certified divers on boat or shore dives
✔️ Supervise diving activities and brief dive plans
✔️ Conduct site hazard assessments and inform divers
✔️ Assist instructors in teaching dive courses
✔️ Lead Discover Local Diving programs
✔️ Conduct Scuba Reviews and skin diving courses (with proper qualifications)
✔️ Inspire new divers and help protect marine life
✔️ Work in dive resorts, liveaboards, and dive centers around the world
The PADI Divemaster program combines theory, practical application, workshops, and in-water training. You’ll refine your dive skills to demonstration quality, develop leadership abilities, and gain experience assisting with real student divers.

To enroll, you must:
Be a PADI Rescue Diver (or hold an equivalent certification)
Have completed Emergency First Response® (EFR) Primary and Secondary Care within the past 24 months
Have at least 40 logged dives before starting
Be medically cleared for diving by a physician within the last 12 months
Be at least 18 years old
